Overview

India’s demand for public policy professionals in government, non-profits, and the private sector is growing rapidly, with a projected 20% annual increase over the next five years (CII).

Each year, nearly 1 million aspirants attempt the UPSC Civil Services Examination, but only around 1,000 succeed. For those who don’t qualify, public policy offers a fulfilling alternative, allowing them to pursue their goal of societal impact.

While several institutions in India offer certificate programs in Public Policy, they often fall short in meeting the needs of UPSC aspirants. These programs typically cover essential topics like constitutional fundamentals, the balance of power, public administration, economic policy, and social issues. While this knowledge is crucial, UPSC aspirants generally possess a more holistic understanding of these concepts.

What’s truly needed is a focus on the hard skills required to excel in public policy roles—skills that are often overlooked by existing certificate programs.

The Applied Public Policy Lab is designed to fill this void. Over six weeks, our program hones the practical skills essential for success in Public Policy roles. Participants will work on real-world problem statements, learning to develop and analyze policy solutions while gaining expertise in key skill areas.

Through live sessions and case-based learning, you will strengthen your ability to understand, interpret, and influence public policy. By the end of the course, you will be equipped to define public policy problems effectively, conduct primary and secondary research, interpret data, and make evidence-based policy recommendations.

Entry-level public policy roles offer a median salary of ₹8,00,000 – ₹12,00,000 per year, with strong career prospects.
